I would like to offer my strongest recommendation to Brian Cheek. My experience with him during the sale of my home was efficient, professional, financially successful, and most importantly, he was a pleasure to deal with.
Living in Los Angeles, I had a lot of concerns selling my property in the Bay Area. I interviewed a number of agents, including one I had worked with in the past, and requested their evaluation of my property. Right from the start, Brian set himself above the rest. He was the quickest to respond, the most detailed, the most accessible, and I felt confident in his answers to my questions and objections. The effort he made to earn my trust in a short period of time was unmatched. While I figured his estimate for the sale was excessive ($65,000 higher than the other agents!) I appreciated his approach to the process and gave him the nod to sell the property.
The repairs and staging Brian set up for my home were affordable and extremely quick, especially considering the transformation the property went through. In under 20 days, the house was sparkling – the property could have been on Extreme Home Makeover. Brian went incredible lengths to make sure the process was expedited; I couldn’t be more pleased with the timing.
The home went to market on a Wednesday, and we had an open house that Sunday. Offers were accepted on Thursday and we had 21 of them, all above asking. Six were at or above the price Brian had estimated he would get for the home. 19 Days later, I had a check in hand.
I couldn’t imagine a better experience selling my home. Expectations were exceeded due in large part by the work Brian put in.

Meeting Brian was a lucky coincidence. Before we decided to buy a home, I happened to see a house I was curious about on Trulia with Brian’s name on it. I called and he said he could show it to us that very afternoon. It was pretty clear we weren’t seriously interested in the house, but Brian still patiently answered all our questions and even went into the grimy crawl space to check out the electrical. He also gave us some great advice about mortgage lenders and the names of some people to call to get preapproved for a loan. Shortly after that, when we decided to start looking in earnest, I called Brian again. He didn’t flinch when I explained how particular I was and that we were prepared to for it to take a year or more to find the perfect house. Incredibly, we found it the first weekend we went out. Brian was great about getting our questions answered as we debated what kind of offer to make. When I had concerns about the kitchen, he offered to call a contractor for a free consultation. When we saw that the inspection report mentioned a crack in the foundation, he called his foundation guy to take a look and even met him at the house so we didn’t have to leave work. When I decided to change our bid at the eleventh hour (good decision) he said “no big deal” and obligingly rewrote the offer. Incredibly, that offer–our first– was accepted. The whole process took less than two months.
Before I called Brian the second time I did some internet sleuthing and discovered that he’d been a teacher and a guidance counselor. This made me think he was probably a pretty good guy, which was important to me as I wanted a real estate agent I felt I could trust. My hunch was correct. Brian is a great guy and he really worked hard for us. Yesterday, when I shook Brian’s hand in the front yard of our new home, he assured me that we could always call with questions, and that he didn’t just disappear after closing. I highly recommend him to anyone looking to buy a home.

Goes beyond Excellence!!!
Brian was a fantastic agent for the sale of our condo in the Rose Garden area. His knowledge of the market is extraordinary. His advice on everything – from items that would benefit from a touch-up; using the excellent stager he recommended (I joked that after I saw the staging, I was sorry I was moving); a spot-on listing strategy; intelligently evaluating the offers – led to multiple generous offers and a totally hassle free settlement.
Highly Recommended if you want the Best of the Best – So far during my experience with him is GREAT!!!!!!!!!!
– John S.
It was a pleasure working with Brian. He was very easy to work with during the sale of our home. We were out of state and Brian handled all aspects of preparing our home for the market from remodeling, meeting with contractors and dealing with any other concerns that surfaced. He is very knowledgeable and thorough – I give him the highest recommendation if you are seeking an agent.

I worked with Brain and his team in early 2016 to help sell my Oakland home. I couldn’t recommend him higher. I’d interviewed a few other realtors who had sales in the neighborhood but he was the most knowledgeable as well as the least pushy. He worked with me to develop a clear timeline for when we would prep, stage, photo, show to realtors and hold an open house. He kept to the schedule and kept in close contact. He found contractors for work on the clean-up, painting and yard and we agreed on prices etc in advance of any work. He takes great pride in his work, has great attention to detail and understands the stresses that any seller is under. He also really understands Oakland, the neighborhoods and city ordinances etc. I think he is a credit to his profession and i would work with him again without hesitation.
– John M.
Brian and his team did an incredible job finding me and my family the perfect home in the Oakland Hills. We are thrilled with his dedication, service and professionalism, especially when we went through a couple of bumps in the process. He stayed cool and stayed the course. Also, Brian has a highly credible network of contractors + landscapers etc. if you need things done post move in. My family and I highly recommend Brian Cheek and his team.

My wife and I are extremely happy with Brian’s services in selling our home. We received a letter from him in the mail describing the housing shortage in our neighborhood and so we decided to contact him just to see what our house would be worth. We weren’t earnestly thinking of moving, but after talking to him and hearing his ideas on what our house was potentially worth, we decided to sell our house. We decided to sell our house while we were out of the country and Brian was there every step of the way and kept us informed of everything going on. He helped us decide what to replace, fix, or leave as is and even came over to mow our lawn since we were out of the country! He personally oversaw all the contract work, from staging to landscaping, and even planted some flowers himself. Talk about dedication! He was very responsive to both phone calls and emails and was not pushy. We never felt like he had his own agenda, but rather would listen to our concerns and offer reasonable recommendations. In the end, we got offers we were very pleased with. We highly recommend Brian if you are even considering selling your house!
– Andy C.
Brian was attentive and detail oriented in helping us find a home in Oakland. We were apprehensive, as other real estate professionals kept waving us off, warning that home that met our needs wouldn’t be available in our price range. However, Brian listened to us and was open minded. He explained Oakland’s geography and what was going on the the various neighborhoods, and we explained our criteria. Then we looked at a few homes right away, and we all came away very optimistic after that first outing. Brian really understood what we were looking for and he has an excellent understanding of the nuance of the Oakland housing market. Ultimately he helped us find a nice, off-market craftsman bungalow in a neighborhood with a lot of potential. It’s just what we were hoping for.
– Zachary C.
Brian was instrumental in us buying our house – we are certain we would not have gotten it without him! He was an expert on the neighborhood and gave us great suggestions for how we could make our offer more compelling to the sellers. During and after the sale he also had great recommendations for other vendors to use and months later he is still helping us out if we have any questions! If we ever sell we would definitely use him again!
– Jeff Z.
Brian was our realtor for our first home I just purchased. Knowing nothing and being slightly intimated by the market out there, Brian was there every step of the way. Brian had extensive knowledge of the East Bay and opened my boy friend and I up to areas we did not know well or had even heard of . He was there any hour that we bothered him and did detailed walk throughs of homes we were interested in….being able to show us the not so good and not so bad things that may have been in the home. Though we were in a hurry to find a home Brian guided us to wait for the right one that fit perfectly. We felt he took the time to really get to know us and what we wanted. We put all our trust in him and would do it again.
Unfortunately, Yelp’s rating system only goes up to 5 stars. 6 stars would seem more appropriate. Brian’s very professional, personable, and fun to be around. He sets a time table from the beginning and has people to make sure it stays on track. If there’s any kind of hang up, he’s there, with his sleeves rolled up, taking care of problem. You can easily see how much he loves working with people and his work. Brian was borne to be a real estate agent. The proof is in the results: He said we’d sell our house in two weeks for over asking price. We had 5 bids, all over asking. The highest offer was for cash, more than 20% over our asking price.
This was the best possible real estate experience one could ever have.
So……….it’s 6 Stars for Brian Cheek!!
Brian is, hands-down, the best real estate agent both my wife and I have ever worked with! He truly had our best interests in mind and went above-and-beyond to help us as new homeowners even after our home buying process was complete.
– Patrick D.
We were referred to Brian through a friend who is realtor in SF. Given that we were looking to buy a home in the east bay, she recommended Brian as a realtor who knew the area really well. It turned out to be a great recommendation. As first time homeowners we had a LOT of questions and a limited budget, but Brian always made us feel like a priority. He was incredibly patient and responsive with us during our search – and really worked with us to send us listings and navigate the waters of real estate. Brian ended up finding us the perfect little home in Maxwell park. He even recommended contractors for some initial work that needed to be done on the house. All in all, we couldn’t be happier with Brian as a realtor and would highly recommend him to anyone in the market for a house.
– Michelle P.
My husband and I are first time home buyers who chose Brian as our realtor and could not have been happier with his work. We would highly recommend Brian to everyone and would definitely work with him again.
We really knew nothing about the whole process and Brian was a great guide – he kept us informed, spent the time to educate us and answered all of our questions. Brian always had our best interest in mind and we felt like we could completely trust him which was extremely important to first time buyers like us. Brian was great to work with and really understood us as buyers. Unlike some of those pushy realtors that we have met at open houses, Brian was extremely patient and easy to work. He would quickly respond to all of our emails, come out to show us houses on the weekends, and even drove out to Concord at 9PM so we could measure for appliances. We had to get things together pretty quickly to close on our house and Brian did a great job of making sure it all came together. The market where we were looking is extremely competitive and we feel that it was Brian’s hard work that finally got us our house.
We love our new home, thank you Brian!
Brian Cheek is the best realtor I have ever worked with. I couldn’t imagine having a better partner through this process. As a first time buyer it was extremely important to me to have someone by my side who has profound knowledge of the business and has the patience to work with me. Brian is extremely professional, relatable, committed and went above and beyond to accomodate my needs. He helped me find my dream home and despite the agressive market he knew what it took to beat other offers and to connect with the sellers agent. From day one Brian made a huge effort to truly understand my vision, my non negotiables and my dreams. Brian’s responsiveness was a very important piece in this process. Not only did it make me feel great to feel the sense of urgency, but it gave me a significant advantage to get to any listings very early in the game.
Anyone who is looking for a realtor who will come through no matter what it takes should contact Brian immediately!
– Talin A.
We had a good experience working with Brian. As first time home buyers, we needed someone to guide us through the process and to be patient with us as we asked LOTS of questions and figured out exactly what is was that we wanted. Brian’s industry knowledge helped to put us at ease and he always made time to get us the answers we needed. He was easy to schedule showings with for the properties we were interested in and was very timely in his preparation of documents. We were looking in the East Bay which is a really tough sellers market right now. We made several different offers and with each one, Brian took the time to make sure we’d done everything we could to go in as prepared and competitive as we could be (getting in touch with the seller’s agent early, making presentations when this was allowed, urging us to write “love letters” to the sellers, etc.). We closed on our new home about two weeks ago (wohoo!) and prior to getting everything finalized Brian stayed in close contact with the seller’s agent through a few delays we had with the bank to make sure our relationship with the sellers stayed positive and that the lines of communication remained open. We’re so happy to be in our new home and are very grateful to Brian for all the work he did with us to get us here!
– Anna R.
I wish I could give 15 stars here. Brian deserves them all. Brian was our realtor when we sold our home recently in Oakland. We moved out of our house and planned on completely remodeling it. Things on our list: Refinishing floors, tearing a few walls apart and rebuilding them, taking out bulky built-ins, new roof, refurbish siding, paint interior and exterior, refurbish kitchen, replace bathroom cabinetry, landscape property, electrical … etc. It was quite a big project, (80k?) and we ended up choosing Brian. He was aggressive and showed us very recent results he achieved near our neighborhood, and convinced us to put the house on the market FAST. We agreed, and let him take over. The first day we were gone, I stopped bye unannounced and Brian was upstairs with his tool box fixing some wire harnesses and some lights. This is emblematic of his work, and his dedication to getting the job done. He had no idea we were going to be there, and he said he couldn’t fit in his guys to do this work before the painters came through, so he just did it himself.
We put a lot of trust in him to facilitate the remodel and sale of the house while we were moving back east, and his performance was phenomenal. He managed the entire remodel, as well as design, staging, photography… everything was done with a perfectionists touch, and with our budget and bottom line at the forefront.
He got a price for our home that was 20% higher than we were hoping for, and 13% higher than our ‘wow’ number. Oh, and all of this was done in 3 weeks? I can’t remember, my head was spinning. I couldn’t recommend Brian strongly enough, and his track record and results speak for themselves. If you are considering selling your house, or buying a home in the east bay, call him right now.
– Bill L.
Our introduction to Brian happened via U.S. mail! Periodically we received mailers from Brian showing area sales/listings. One day Brian was out walking the neighborhood and stopped to introduce himself to my husband. He asked if we were ever interested in placing our home on the market to give him a call. We met with Brian in June and told him we had been in our home for over 22 years, were now “empty nesters” and were considering downsizing. We discussed the area and specific style of home we desired to purchase. He wasn’t familiar with the community but he began his research. There weren’t many homes available, so Brian encouraged us to write “love letters” additionally he wrote a letter of introduction and mailed to over 500 homeowners in our desired community.
For those of you who want to skip to the end result, Brian placed our home on the market September 7th and by October 4th our home had sold and escrow closed!!! Simultaneously, Brian assisted us in finding the perfect home for us in our desired community!!!! In less than four months all transactions are final.
I realize this was a lengthy beginning, but hopefully it gave you a snapshot of Brian’s marketing skills, ability to research, and his responsiveness. Brian is extremely resourceful. He referred us to stagers, painting contractors, floor finishers, window washers and numerous other contractors. He was always available to meet on our behalf when we couldn’t. Brian is sensitive yet can be assertive as needed. Brian is “hands on” when we needed help with market prep, Brian showed up in his jeans and T-shirt, family and friends continuously commented they have never met an agent like him. We have already referred Brian to neighbors and friends.
Did I mention that Brian was able to get our home featured on the front page of the S.F. Chronicle Real Estate Sunday paper !!!
Brian became apart of our extended family. He has since called to check on us and how we are settling into our new home.
– Janet P.
Brian was our agent for our recent home purchase. He was fantastic through the entire process from beginning to end and has stayed involved and engaged post-purchase to make sure we’re happy.
He knows the local Oakland/Berkeley market very well and quickly got a handle on what our requirements were, only showing us houses that fit our needs and tastes. When we finally put in an offer on the house we wanted, Brian went out of his way to build rapport and understanding with the seller’s agent, and made a GREAT and very personal pitch to the sellers on our behalf. Despite there being a higher cash offer on the table, the sellers went with our offer, in no small part thanks to Brian’s representations.
He absolutely made the difference in us getting our house or not.
– Jason A.
Brian is what I would call a “Super Agent”. He recently helped me buy the house I can easily say was exactly what I wanted and in a location that is remarkably understated in its desirability. Basically a perfect match.
I met Brian when I was in contract for the sale of my home in San Francisco and in the incipient stages of exploring the market in the East Bay. I cold-called him to schedule a meeting at his listing in the Temescal neighborhood that my friend had randomly sent me that morning. He responded promptly and found the time to meet me at a time that was convenient for me — that same day because I happened to be in the East Bay. After the first 2-5 minutes of talking with me, he knew that his listing was not the kind of home or location I would be interested in — and made no effort to try to persuade me that it was. Instead he told me about other listings currently on, and/or likely coming on the market that would be more along the lines I was thinking. I could tell right away that he was listening carefully to the attributes of a home that appealed to me as well as ones that didn’t. He didn’t just ask me: “What are you looking for?” He sussed it out through the course of just talking about homes and generally areas of interest. His approach — with excellent listening skills and precise and speedy responsiveness to questions in a low-key non-sales-y manner was refreshing. I left that first meeting with the clear impression that he had both knowledge and experience in the particular neighborhoods and micro markets I was interested in possibly pursuing.
In the two months that followed, Brian and I stayed in touch — and again, his extremely responsive (sometimes within minutes and certainly no more than a couple of hours) style and with no pressure approach to try to persuade me that I should just stop looking in SF for my next home was exactly the right one for me — and greatly appreciated. The efficiency, thoroughness, and follow through — in every respect — is nothing short of spectacular. It reflected an appreciation for my time and the many constraints I had to talk and/or meet in person. He just got me the answers I needed and got them to me quickly so that I could proceed how and when I wanted.
Finally, after almost giving up based on viewing listings online and spending several weekends going to open homes of homes I either didn’t want or couldn’t afford, I saw a listing in a neighborhood I hadn’t explored. I became obsessed with the house itself, its charm, features, and potential — and Brian was right there with me in this obsession — he requested and read the disclosures, did the necessary market research, talked to other agents, and gathered informal intel on the property within 24-48 hours of my expressing serious interest. It became clear to me that he was truly partnering with me and going to help me attain my dream. It was also clear that he has a true passion and love for this work — and that his interest was authentic.
I put an offer on the house in short order. It was the first offer I made and with Brian’s deft guidance, navigation, and skill, was able to get the house, surpassing the 13 other extremely competitive contenders. I couldn’t be happier about this outcome and feel unbelievably fortunate.
But Brian’s work didn’t stop there, and hasn’t really stopped at all. He worked tenaciously with the appraiser, handled various post-offer matters and worked with multiple professional contacts to ensure a smooth delivery of the home upon closing. Brian has also continued to check in with any and all follow ups including referring and meeting with home improvement professionals for me (in my absence) as well as troubleshoot with respect to minor issues following the closing. He has proven to be reliable and thorough and more than willing to go the extra mile for his clients.
In short, Brian has been remarkably hard working and tireless in his efforts to ensure that I’m a happy new homeowner. He is a rare find and I couldn’t recommend anyone more highly than Brian Cheek. He’s a star and will not let you down!

My husband and I were referred to Brian through a friend of a friend for our cross country move from Minneapolis to the East Bay, and we were thrilled with our experience in working with him! We corresponded with Brian via email for a couple of months, before ever meeting in person. He was very responsive to our questions and helped us understand the (crazy!) Bay Area real estate market. Homes in our desired areas were selling withing a week or two at 20+% above asking price, which meant that all of our online house-hunting seemed pointless. Of course, that didn’t stop us from looking, and I even sent several listings to Brian so he could get a “feel” for what we were looking for (poor Brian!). He took the time to respond to each query, and gracefully helped us stay realistic with our search.
About a month before our scheduled move we flew out to look at neighborhoods and houses, never really expecting to find one on our quick, overnight visit. Brain spent the first afternoon tirelessly showing us houses in Berkeley, Piedmont, and Oakland. Even though we saw 15 houses that day, he was happy to meet us again the following morning to visit the areas we hadn’t seen yet, for a grand total of 20 (!!!) houses. When we left the Bay Area there were two homes we were considering. Knowing that, he sent us a quick email that night to let us know that one of our top two houses was getting an offer the following day. Much to Brian’s surprise, we decided to make an offer too, and with his guidance, we got it! His expertise in real estate and the East Bay area helped us purchase a home, and his dedication didn’t stop there. Since we were in Minneapolis through most of the buying process, he not only recommended inspectors and contractors, he took the time to meet them at the house for us! We continued to call him for referrals after arriving in Oakland, and he never failed to provide us with names. We really enjoyed working with Brain as a realtor, and we really like him as a person!
– Laura T.
Brian is a great realtor and I highly recommend him to anyone needing a realtor in the East Bay! He is very knowledgeable about the market and takes the time to truly partner with you throughout the process. I was not always available due to a crazy work schedule, but Brian handled it all. He made it a smooth process, for which I’m very thankful!
– Meaghan N.
Brian is a great person to work with he made the process so easy for us after a death in our family and we had to sell. He is kind fair professional and understanding and sold the property after only one showing and we got over our asking price . If you want the best there is no other choice. Thank You Brian for everything.
– Alana G.
After being completely put off by pushy, overly-aggressive realtors my wife and I were referred to Brian by a family friend. We met with him at his office and were immediately taken with his easy demeanor and impressive knowledge of the Oakland housing market. By the following weekend were attending open houses that he’d suggested – all of them exactly what we were looking for and right in our wheelhouse in terms of affordability. Brian steered us through the offer process on a home we fell in love with and provided assistance and guidance all of the way through closing. Even afterwards he followed up on some outstanding questions we had and acted as a sounding board and resource. As first time home buyers we needed a little hand holding at times and Brian was very understanding and patient. We couldn’t have asked for a better partner in the home buying process and I’d recommend him without hesitation to anyone looking to buy in the Oakland area.
– Brandon C.
My husband and I were referred to Brian Cheek by a friend of a friend. I am so happy and grateful we found him! He really knows the Oakland Hills where we were looking for our “forever” home. He lives in the area and knows a lot about the surrounding neighborhoods.
What I especially enjoyed about Brian was his personality. He is professional, yet personal and down-to-earth. I went into this process feeling a little intimidated since it was my first time buying a house, but Brian made me feel much more comfortable. I will be recommending him to anyone buying a home near us! We love our new home!
I feel compelled to write this review because Brian exceeded my expectations in every way. After recently meeting him at an open house, he agreed to come over to my house and offer advice, even though I am not sure whether we’ll be selling or not. He gave me excellent pricing information for the Oakland/Piedmont market, and economic tips to remodel my home for a sale. Besides being laid back and patient, he really listened to me and in doing so, offered advice against doing a sale – something that goes against his own interest. He seemed to really understand what improvements would add most value to the home, and more than anything made me feel comfortable. I cannot recommend him enough.
Brian is the man! He did an excellent job of guiding us through the entire process of buying our first house, which we are in love with! He was extremely knowledgeable of the surrounding neighborhoods and did a great job with finding the right comps, navigating us through the offer process, and assisted with the bank and appraisal stuff that is always a pain.
Plus, he’s a great guy! He has definitely gone above and beyond in helping us out with the intricacies of purchasing our first house and helping to work out the kinks and details. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
